What to Bring to Costa Rica
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Binoculars
- Casual
clothing (for city traveling Shirts - cotton or lightweight, long &
short sleevedPants - cotton or lightweight (Jeans not recommended, too
slow to dry).
- Hiking shorts
- Footwear:
waterproof lightweight hiking boots, water shoes (Teva type),
tennis/running shoes. If you do not bring hiking boots please make sure
you bring "2" pair of tennis shoes. As soon as one pair gets wet, use
that pair anytime you are likely to get your feet wet. Go to any length
to keep one pair of shoes dry!
- Socks - bring extra pairs in case feet get wet.
- Rain gear - poncho raincoat and travel umbrella.
- Hat/s - with visor for rain and sun protection.
- Plastic water bottle - especially for hikes in the heat.
- Flashlight with spare batteries and bulb.
- Camera and film. (Film is very expensive).
- Ziploc plastic bags for spillables.
- Extra prescription glasses and medication (if applicable).
- Small daypack or fanny pack.
- Sweater or jacket for San Jose and mountain areas.
- Underwear.
- Plastic garbage bags for wet items.
- Swimwear & beach towel.
- Bandanas.
- Collapsible luggage to store extra items & gifts.
